Accounts and tokens

Why a tiny bit of SOL always stays.

Your wallet is several accounts. One SOL account and one small account per token you hold. The app shows them as one balance, but they are separate.

Each token gets its own account. Buy a new coin and Solana creates a token account for it. That takes a small SOL deposit called rent.

Rent is a deposit, not a fee. The SOL sits in the account while it exists. Close the account and most of it comes back.

Why a bit of SOL always stays. Rent for your accounts plus fees for the next transaction. Swap everything and a sliver remains. That is normal.

Quick check.

The leftover SOL. You sold everything and a little SOL remains. Buy means use the recovery site, skip means close it.

Coach Bobby says:A little SOL stays behind to keep your token accounts alive. That's rent, not a bug.

Solana charges rent so unused accounts do not pile up forever. Pay enough up front and the account is rent exempt: the deposit just sits there. Closing an empty token account refunds it to you, which many wallet apps let you do in one tap. No seed phrase is ever needed for that.
