MemeSim vs Trading With Real SOL: An Honest Comparison

MemeSim uses the same live prices, fees, slippage and delay as a real Solana memecoin trade, but the SOL is fake. What it cannot copy is the fear of real loss and your own trade's effect on the market.

What is identical?

MemeSim was built to feel real, not to feel good. The following parts of a trade are the same as a live one, taken from the simulator's own fill engine.

  • Prices. Live prices from real Solana markets, updated in seconds. Your P&L moves with the actual coin.
  • Exchange fees. 1.25% on a pump.fun bonding curve, about 0.30% on PumpSwap, about 0.25% on other AMMs, chosen by where the coin actually trades.
  • Platform fee. 1% of the trade, like the trading bots charge, shown as its own line on the receipt.
  • Priority fee and network fee. A default priority fee of 0.001 SOL that you can change, plus the 0.000005 SOL network fee on every transaction.
  • Delay. Every fill waits a random 1 to 3 seconds, then fills against the fresh market price, not the price you tapped.
  • Slippage. You set a slippage limit, 15% by default. If the fill price moves past it, the trade fails and the priority fee is still charged.
  • Price impact. Your trade size against the pool's liquidity moves the fill price, using the same constant-product math a real pool uses.
  • Rugs and honeypots. A coin with no liquidity left fills a sell at almost zero. A coin with buys and no sells fails your sell the way a honeypot does.

What is different?

The money is fake, and everything that follows from that is different too.

  • Nothing is at risk. You can lose 1,000 fake SOL and start over in Settings. That changes how you feel, and feelings drive most memecoin mistakes.
  • Your trade does not touch the real pool. MemeSim models your price impact, but no real buyer or seller sees your order, and you never move the market for others.
  • No wallet, no keys, no gas top-ups. You sign in with Google, email or a Solana wallet signature. Nothing is ever sent on-chain.
  • No bots hunting your transaction. Real trades can be front-run or sandwiched by other traders. MemeSim's delay and slippage failures stand in for that, but it is a model, not the real thing.
  • No withdrawals. Fake SOL is not money and never will be.

What can a simulator not teach you?

A simulator teaches mechanics: fees, slippage, reading a receipt, spotting a rug, sizing a position. It cannot teach you what it feels like to watch 2 real SOL go to zero in four minutes. Many traders who are calm on paper panic-sell or revenge-trade the first time it is real.

The honest answer is that a simulator gets you most of the way. The last part only comes from small real trades, made after the mechanics are already boring to you. If reading a receipt still surprises you, you are not there yet. Stay on fake SOL until the fees, the delay and the slippage line feel ordinary.

When should you move to real SOL?

Move when the numbers say so, not the mood. Reasonable tests: at least 20 fake trades, a positive P&L after all fees, and a written rule you did not break. If your fake run is in the red, real money will not fix that. It will only make the same lesson expensive.

When you switch, start with less than you practiced with. Real fear shrinks your judgment, so give yourself room. A common approach is to trade real SOL at a quarter of your fake size for the first week, then grow only if the results hold.

What should you keep doing after you switch?

Keep the routine you built. One sentence before each buy. Read each receipt, including the fees. Review the week on Sunday. Many traders keep a fake balance running next to the real one to test a new idea for a week before risking SOL on it. The landing page puts it simply: find out if your strategy works before your wallet does.

Questions

Are MemeSim prices delayed?
The prices are live. The 1 to 3 second wait on each fill is a deliberate simulation of a real confirmation, and the fill uses the fresh price after the wait.
Can my fake trades affect real prices?
No. Nothing goes on-chain. Price impact is modeled from the pool's liquidity but never reaches the real market.
Can I turn fake SOL into real SOL?
No. It is not money and cannot be withdrawn. That is what makes the mistakes free.

Simulated trading. Not real money. Not financial advice.
